Mark Walton

Mark Walton is currently an Associate Professor of the Professional Practice in Media Management at The New School in New York.  He also regularly consults with media companies, government entities and independent content creators to help them develop sustainable business models and seek distribution for their work.

Meet Mark Walton

Most recently, Mr. Walton was President of Sales & Marketing for One Caribbean Television, and prior to that he was a member of the senior management team that launched The Africa Channel in the US and the UK.

 

Mr. Walton co-founded the TV syndication company, Onyx Media Group, and secured distribution and sponsorship for over fifty shows, including New York Undercover and the Hispanic Heritage Awards.  

 

In the film arena, Mr. Walton was a founding partner at the indie film distribution company, KJM3 Entertainment, which marketed Julie Dash’s Daughters of the Dust and Raoul Peck’s The Man By The Shore. He has been an Ambassador for the Pavillon Afriques at the Cannes Film Festival since 2020.

 

Mark began his career at the CBS Television Network in marketing.                             

He earned his BS in journalism from Boston University’s College of Communications and holds a Master’s from the Yale School of Management.
